Busboys and Poets - Shirlington

If hip and politically left is your bent then you'll treasure Busboys and Poets. Reminiscent of an old style bookshop cum coffee house, owner, activist and arts supporter, Andy Shallal encourages lingering and dialogue with music, open mic nights and poetry slams. The casual fare is affordable and delicious with pizzas, paninis, salads and full-on entrees.

All Stars Comedy at Listriani's

A fairly small operation than brings in some semi-big names at reasonable prices. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a laugh.

Bailey's Sports Grille

Climb up stairs to this beautifully laid out Irish bar right on Crystal Drive. Lots of drinks specials, traditional Irish food and screens to catch your favorite athletic event.

A comfortable lounge in the Crystal City Marriott, worth a visit by those hotel guests and others in the area. A good wine selection, and near the metro.

Crystal City Sports Pub

This three-story bar and grill is a sports lovers dream. One of the best sports bar in the country, there's easily more than 100 screens. Plus good food, three full bars and plenty of beer. If you're in town and can't miss the big game, this is the place to go.

O'Malley's Sports Pub

Located in the Holiday Inn, O'Malley's is a perfect place to relax with a stiff drink or pint if you're staying in the hotel. Also close by to other area accommodations.

Sine Irish Pub

One of a handful of places to go to in Pentagon City includes Sine, where you can expect traditional Irish fare and beer.

Tortoise & Hare

A friendly neighborhood bar on 23rd Street. The bar itself is beautiful, and some of the specials can't be beat. From 4 to 8 p.m., enjoy happy hour, as well as daily specials that include Tecate specials on Tuesdays and half-priced burgers on Wednesdays. Frequent live music on the weekends.

Mackey's Public House

This Irish Bar is situated in the heart of Crystal City. The square bar is friendly, and there are a number of televisions and a jukebox. Bonus: free wi-fi.

IOTA Club & Cafe

This is an excellent place for either dinner or live music. One half is a restaurant; the other half is a club that hosts national and local acts, from solo singer songwriters to full rock bands. One of the coolest spots in town.
